Cuijk already excists for more than 1500 years! Walk with romans across the bridge, pay a visit at the fortress or the port and experience what life was like for the people who lived outside the fortress. During the Roman Empire, there was a Roman encampment (castellum) and a 450 meter long bridge across the Meuse, located at Cuijk. The castellum was equipped with double layers of channels and stone walls with towers. Next to the fortress were a civilian settlement (vicus), the roman road and a roman cemetery. Search the differences between roman Ceuclum and nowadays Cuijk!
